Description
Stay Connected Beyond Cell Service
The Garmin inReach Mini 2 is built for the places where your phone stops working.
Using the global Iridium satellite network, the Mini 2 allows compatible messaging, tracking, location sharing, and emergency communication from remote areas where cellular service may be unavailable.
At only about 3.5 ounces, it adds very little bulk to your kit while providing a valuable communication link for remote travel and outdoor adventures.
Two-Way Satellite Messaging
With an active Garmin inReach satellite subscription, the Mini 2 can send and receive text messages through the Iridium satellite network.
Use it to stay in contact with:
- Family and friends
- Dive buddies and support teams
- Trip leaders
- Emergency contacts
- Other compatible inReach users
Messaging features can also be managed through compatible Garmin apps on a paired smartphone.
Interactive SOS
In an emergency, the inReach Mini 2 can send an interactive SOS through Garmin’s 24/7 emergency response coordination service.
The emergency response team can communicate with the user, contact appropriate search-and-rescue resources, provide updates, and reach designated emergency contacts when necessary.
An active satellite subscription is required for satellite communication features.
TracBack Routing
If you need help navigating back to where you started, Garmin’s TracBack routing can guide you along your recorded path.
This makes the Mini 2 useful for activities such as:
- Hiking
- Camping
- Remote dive-site access
- Backcountry travel
- Boating
- Hunting
- Expedition travel
Location Sharing and Tracking
Share your location with people back home or allow others to follow your progress during an adventure.
Tracking intervals can be customized depending on the selected satellite plan and battery-life needs.
Compact and Lightweight
The Mini 2 measures only about 2.04 x 3.90 x 1.03 inches and weighs approximately 3.5 oz / 100 g.
That makes it small enough to clip onto a backpack, carry in a pocket, or include as part of a remote dive or expedition safety kit.
Rugged for Outdoor Use
The device carries an IPX7 water rating, meaning it is designed to withstand temporary immersion in water under specified conditions.
For divers who want to take an inReach Mini 2 underwater before reaching a surface location, Garmin also offers a compatible Mini 2 Dive Case, sold separately.
Long Battery Life
Depending on tracking settings and sky conditions, the Mini 2 can provide:
- Up to 14 days at 10-minute tracking intervals with full sky view
- Up to 4 days with moderate tree cover at the default setting
- Up to 30 days at 30-minute tracking intervals with full sky view
Actual battery life varies based on settings, activity, environment, and satellite visibility.
