Become a Dive Professional

Becoming a dive professional is a goal that every diver should aim for.  Dive professionals such as Divemasters and Instructors are the ambassadors of the dive community.  Without dive professionals, SCUBA diving programs around the world would cease to exist.  Dive professionals bridge the gap between those curious about the underwater world and those few who are trained and certified to dive in and explore it.  

Becoming a dive professional takes a lot of work and dedication but there are very few jobs out there that let you have so much fun.  The first step is becoming Open Water SCUBA Certified.  After that you will need to gain experience by diving and complete your Advanced Open Water and Rescue Diver courses.  Once you have become a Rescue Diver and have at least 40 logged dives, you are ready to start your divemaster course.  

Divemaster is the first of the "professional" ratings from PADI followed by Assistant Instructor, and then Open Water SCUBA Instructor.  As an Open Water SCUBA Instructor, or OWSI, you are now able to train and certify new SCUBA divers including friends and family members.  As an added bonus, right now, there are job openings all over the world for SCUBA instructors.  Many of these places are luxury resorts in tropical destinations.  Yes, you could actually get paid to dive in paradise.  That should be incentive enough for anyone to seriously consider becoming a dive professional.
