The SSI Snorkel Diver program is your first step towards discovering a passion for the underwater world. It is the best way to learn how to snorkel and develop your confidence in the water, so you can go snorkeling and explore the mesmerizing landscapes and wildlife of the aquatic world.
You do not need to be a proficient swimmer to participate in the Snorkel Diver program, and a minimum age of 8 to join. You just need to be comfortable in the water, able to maintain your buoyancy, and ready to begin the adventure of a lifetime!
In this program, you will be introduced to the equipment and skills you need to go snorkeling safely. Begin your snorkeling training and earn your SSI Snorkel Diver recognition card today!
Required equipment: Mask, antifog, fins, and snorkel. Depending on the type of fins you choose you may need to boots if you plan to snorkel in rocky shore entries, such as Bonaire. We do carry full foot fins. Your own gear will last for years and they are personal items and fit matters for your comfort. If you purchased all required gear from us you will receive a 10% discount. Suggested gear: whistle, mesh bag, snorkel vest, smb(safety device tube). This class is held at Quest Swimming off of Hull Street Road in Chesterfield and may last up to 3 hours, giving you time to practice after class. After you have completed the class with us you are welcome to come back to our pool times and practice. Pool times are scheduled on our website. We offer several trips for snorkeling and diving.
Students have one year from the date of registration to complete their course. In-water training for all programs must be completed within six (6) months of the last academic or in-water training session.
Students enrolled in classes involving in-water training are required to complete a medical questionnaire and may be required to obtain a physician’s authorization prior to any in-water training. Classes are non-refundable and non-transferable.
