Let’s be honest — starting something new can feel like standing at the edge of the deep end, wondering if you’re really ready to jump.

When it comes to SCUBA, it’s totally normal to feel a little unsure. I’ve seen it a hundred times at Tri-City SCUBA — and I’ve been there, too. But I’ve also seen how quickly that uncertainty turns into confidence. And more often than not? It happens faster than people expect.

So if you’re sitting on the fence, wondering what it actually looks like to go from “maybe I’ll try it” to “I’m a certified diver” — here’s a simple, realistic look at what your first month could look like.

No hype. No pressure. Just the real path.

Week 1: You Try SCUBA. And It Surprises You.

You show up to our shop a little nervous, not quite sure what to expect. That’s normal.

But within minutes, you’re suited up, in the water, breathing through a regulator — and it clicks. You’re not panicking. You’re not overwhelmed. You’re focused. Floating. Breathing. And actually… enjoying it.

Your instructor stays right next to you the whole time. You don’t have to “be good” at anything. Just curious. That’s enough.

By the end of the session, you’re feeling something new: I might actually be able to do this.

Week 2: You Sign Up for the Open Water Course.

No, we didn’t pressure you. You just realized you wanted more.

So we get you signed up for your Open Water Diver course. You’ll start with the academics — learning the basics of pressure, safety, and how your gear works. It’s self-paced and online, which means you can knock it out after work, on weekends, or whenever life allows.

We’ll schedule your in-water training dives — and don’t worry, we’ll work with your calendar. You don’t have to quit your job or rearrange your life to learn how to dive.

Week 3: Pool Training — The Confidence Builder

This is where it all starts to come together.

You’ll suit up, just like you did in Try SCUBA, but this time we’ll walk you through essential skills — clearing your mask, recovering your regulator, controlling your buoyancy — all in a shallow, calm pool.

It’s not about perfection. It’s about learning, practicing, and building confidence. We move at your pace. You’ll surprise yourself by how quickly it starts to feel natural.

The best part? You leave each session feeling a little more like a diver.

Week 4: Open Water Checkout Dives — You Earn It.

Now it’s time to put everything you’ve learned into action. You’ll head to an open water site — like Lake Phoenix — for your four certification dives, under the supervision of your instructor.

And yeah… this is where it starts to feel real.

You’re diving deeper. You’re applying your skills. You’re seeing the underwater world from a whole new perspective — and you’re doing it for real.

Most divers come out of these dives grinning like kids. Tired, proud, maybe a little hooked.

And just like that… you’re certified.

Beyond 30 Days: The Ocean Is Now Yours.

Once you’re certified, the door opens. You can dive almost anywhere in the world. Join us on dive trips. Explore local lakes. Vacation a little differently. Keep learning. Maybe pick up specialties like Wreck, Deep, or Nitrox later on.

You don’t have to rush. You just have to start.

Your First Breath Could Lead to a Lifetime of Adventure.

But it all begins with that first step — and we’d be honored to take it with you.
