Embark on your underwater journey with the PADI Open Water Diver course—your ticket to worldwide diving adventures. This beginner-friendly certification equips you with essential scuba skills and knowledge, enabling you to explore the aquatic realm confidently. Through a blend of online learning, confined water sessions, and open water dives, you’ll master the fundamentals of scuba diving. Upon completion, you’ll be certified to dive up to 60 feet (18 meters) with a buddy, opening the door to countless underwater experiences.

Student is responsible for providing the following personal dive gear: Mask, fins, snorkel, boots, and DSMB safety marker.  When you purchase all of your personal dive gear from our shop receive a 10% discount.  If you add a 5mm wetsuit to your purchase, receive 15% off gear need for this class.

Tri-City Scuba will provide class materials, confined water dives, open water dives, BCD(Buoyancy Control Device), Regulator with gauges, Shearwater Peregrine Dive Computer, 5mm Wetsuit, Weights, DAN Divers Insurance during training, PADI Logbook, Recreation Dive Planner(RDP), Entrance Fee to Pool and Scuba Park, Cylinders and Air Fills used during training, all administrative fees including Divers Card

This class can be completed in 3 days, either Friday, Saturday, Sunday or 3 days during the week.  If you do not see a class schedule that meets your needs, please call and we can schedule one for you.

Open Water Diver
Your underwater adventure begins! Imagine watching the water level move up your

exciting feeling imaginable and yours when you become a PADI Open Water Diver!
This is our entry level scuba certification course during which you will learn
the fundamental knowledge and skills to safely scuba dive in open water.  When
you complete your class you and your buddy will be free to explore and discover
the many wonders of the underwater world…and, you will have earned a PADI
Diver certification card – the most respected diver certification card in the world!

You will find our Open Water Diver course a comprehensive foundation that is fun and definitely user friendly. With the fundamental skills mastered during your course you can explore the wonders of the aquatic world in exotic places and see for yourself what few others only wonder about.
 
Your Open Water / Jr. Open Water Diver course includes:
  • Entrance to scuba park
  • Entrance to Pool if required
  • All equipment (except personal items Mask, Snorkel, Fins Booties, Dive Timer)
  • All Scuba cylinder air fills
  • PADI Training and diving Log Book
  • Recreational Dive Planner (RDP)

The academic sessions done through eLearning learning will present basic information to the student about diving equipment, adapting to the underwater world, the diving environment, using the Recreational Dive Planner (required) and underwater compass navigation, among other topics.
 
Our courses are divided into three segments: Academic, Confined Water and Open Water. Our program separates the academic and confined water sessions presenting presents specific knowledge and skill information so that the diver can safely visit the underwater world and return while building on skills previously mastered.
 
eLearning Specifics 
Open Water eLearning allows you the flexibility to choose when and where you will complete your academic training including quizzes and your final examination online. You also get the direct phone number to our training staff for assistance as required during your eLearning. This choice allows you to spend one long weekend with us consisting of Friday with admin and confined water sessions 1-3 Open Water 1 and Sat & Sun where Confined Water 4-5 and open water dives 2-4 will be completed and maybe leaving time for a fun or adventure dive.  Other days also preferred as weekdays being less of a crowd.
 
Sign up with us and we take care of ordering and send you the eLearning pass allowing you to start your course immediately.  When your eLearning is complete call us to schedule your Open Water Classes sessions.  ALL E-Learning including the portions for the imperial Recreational Dive Planner must be complete a minimum of 72 hours prior to your water sessions or your class will be rescheduled to allow for logistics planning.   Don’t forget there will be a written quiz on site with us.
 
Traditional Learning Specifics
As an option we can provide traditional (classroom) Open Water Diver training. This includes all previous mentioned items, an Open Water Diver Manual, and loaner Open Water DVDs which provides a great reference you can use and review in the future at a bit more cost and time training with us (normally 5 days 2 weekends, therefore more instructor contact. Classroom sessions allow interaction with some of the best scuba instructors around and camaraderie with other students. The first weekend, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, consist of Knowledge reviews, Watermanship skills and confined water sessions 1-5. The second weekend, Saturday and Sunday consist of open water dives 1-4 and should leave time for a fun or adventure dive as a certified diver. Like the eLearning, traditional Open Water Diver training will require completion of self-study prior to arrival for your water sessions.
 
eLearning or Traditional learning the choice is up to you!

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
Your instructor will teach you about dive equipment, the science of diving, responsible diving practices and the environment. You will also learn many skills in confined water with practice time for your safety and comfort; and complete your training with a minimum of four open water dives normally completed at the Lake Phoenix quarry in Rawlings Va.  Course text and videos must be reviewed, and the workbook completed prior to the first class session.  During this session the workbook will be reviewed and lessons in the video, workbook, dive tables and other items will be reviewed ensuring you have no questions.  Then it’s hit the water!   Like to see all the standards download here they are.
 
HOW DO YOU GET STARTED?
As long as you are 10 years or older and in good physical condition and have some basic water skills, you can enroll in a PADI Diver course.  Sign up for your class, grab your bathing suit and get ready to have FUN!   A physical condition checklist is completed as part of the student record.  Any questionable health concerns may require a medical examination e.g., heart, lung, ear problems, chronic diseases and other health issues must be reported on the medical checklist and is required prior to course scheduling.   You need not be an Olympic swimmer, but you must be comfortable in the water, and we will check you out on this. 
Notes, Terms:: 
  • Please note that all prices are subject to change without prior notice.
  • Prices that are quoted assume that all prerequisites have been met to start the specific course.
  • Equipment rental fees, Air fills, Facility entrance e.g., Pool, Quarry etc., Boat or Transportation fees, Text, & tax not included in course tuition cost unless noted.
  • Non-refundable classes, class fee is due at time of scheduling. Class dates not confirmed until payment is made.
  • ALL E-Learning must be complete 72 hours prior to any water sessions to allow for logistics planning or your class is subject to be rescheduled at your expense. If Open Water this include the Recreational Dive Planner (RDP) imperial portions of your e-learning, these are not optional.
  • Additional dives, or days, if required to ensure safety and/or mastery of skills, or other reasons, will require additional fee(s), as additional logistics and personnel are required. Does not apply in the case of weather-related emergencies or similar.
  • Rescheduling of course dates will incur a $50 additional fee per person, per day, due to logistics and personnel rescheduling.  Does not apply in the case of weather-related emergencies or similar where the entire class is postponed.
  • Individual private classes will incur additional fee to cover instructor entrance and expenses of $75 daily, per person.
