Description
Compact Satellite Communication with a Touchscreen
The Garmin inReach Mini 3 brings Garmin’s proven satellite communication platform into a compact device with a bright color touchscreen and physical button controls.
Designed for travel beyond cellular coverage, the Mini 3 uses the global Iridium satellite network to support messaging, tracking, SOS, and weather features when paired with an active inReach subscription.
Its compact size makes it easy to clip to a pack, carry in a dry bag, or include as part of a remote dive or expedition safety kit.
Two-Way Text Messaging
With an active inReach satellite subscription, the Mini 3 allows you to send and receive text messages outside traditional cellular coverage.
Messages can be composed directly on the device using the touchscreen keyboard or through the Garmin Messenger app on a compatible smartphone.
That makes it easy to stay in touch with:
- Family and friends
- Trip leaders
- Dive buddies
- Support teams
- Emergency contacts
- Other inReach users
Interactive SOS
In an emergency, the Mini 3 can send an interactive SOS to the Garmin Response 24/7 emergency coordination center.
Garmin Response can communicate with you, coordinate with appropriate emergency services, provide status updates, and contact designated emergency contacts as needed.
An active satellite subscription and clear view of the sky are required for SOS operation.
1.9-Inch Color Touchscreen
The Mini 3 features a 1.9-inch high-resolution color touchscreen for easier navigation and messaging.
The touchscreen can be used for menu navigation and message entry, while physical buttons remain available for operation in situations where buttons are more practical.
This hybrid approach gives you quick touchscreen access without giving up the reliability of traditional controls.
Tracking and Location Sharing
Use the Mini 3 to track your route and share your location with people back home.
Tracking intervals and available features depend on your Garmin inReach subscription plan.
TracBack Routing
Garmin’s TracBack feature can guide you back along your recorded route if you need help returning to your starting point.
That makes the Mini 3 useful for:
- Hiking
- Remote shore diving
- Camping
- Boating
- Backcountry travel
- Expedition support
- Hunting and fishing
- Adventure travel
Weather Information
With an active subscription, the Mini 3 can request inReach weather information for your current location or another selected location.
This can be especially useful when traveling in remote areas where normal cellular weather access is unavailable.
Rugged and Water-Resistant
The Mini 3 is designed for outdoor use and carries an IP67 water rating.
It is suitable for wet environments, rain, and general outdoor exposure, but it is not a dive computer and should not be taken underwater without an appropriate compatible dive case.
Long Battery Life
Garmin designed the Mini 3 series for extended remote trips, with battery life measured in hundreds of hours depending on tracking settings, sky visibility, and enabled features.
Actual runtime varies based on usage, environment, display settings, and satellite visibility.
